STRUGGLES
Maria Allegra, LAHS ?73, reports the death of her classmate Diane Dover(Hembree)
on April 12, 2002, at Merritt Island, Florida. Diane had a long battle
with pancreatic cancer. She died peacefully with her family by her side.
Diane met her husband Gary at Camp Darby in 1971, and they were married at the
base chapel. They would have celebrated their 29th anniversary in
June. Diane represented Merritt Island as a torchbearer last December for
the Winter Olympics.
Sue (Harris) Wright, LAHS ?61, and Dub are mourning the sudden death of their 7
month old grandson, Zachary Liggett, on May 1, 2002.
INTERNET REGISTRIES
The Internet provides many opportunities to get in touch with old
friends. The Overseas Brats website has a guestbook for observations and
a memorial page for those who have died in the service of our country. Our
own Doug Doody, LAHS ?62 is included on that page. The Classmates website
offers a registry for all schools. Military Brats Registry has a registry
for schools and military bases. All of these are helpful for
locating friends from the past.
DIRECTORY ADDITIONS
Harry Heflin has recently added new listings to the Alumni Directory
. He is now including the names of our classmates who have died,
their birth and death years, along with short comments. If you have
information about anyone who should be included, please notify Harry
Heflin. This is a ?work in progress? so not all are listed yet.
In the works are listings of all who have attended LAHS, even those we are
still looking for. George Partn is working on this.
